Some More Ways to Go Green at Work

So, you’ve started on the road to going green.  You’ve donated to various organizations, you’ve found things around your own home that needed fixed, and you’ve even worked on cleaning up your neighborhood.  Now, it’s time to look at a few Ways To Go Green At Work. There are many things you can do at work that will help out the go green movement.

Eat Better Lunches:
First of all, rather than eating fast food or getting something from a vending machine, take your lunch with you to work.  Package everything in reusable containers, use real silverware, and maybe even take your own salt and pepper shaker with you.  This way, you have nothing to throw away which means nothing going into a landfill.

Office Savings:
If you get a carbonated beverage from a vending machine, don’t just throw it out.  Keep it for recycling and see about getting several of your co-workers to do the same.  You might start a recycling program at your work  hat will benefit everyone involved.  You should also reuse any office memos that come your way.  Rather than just tossing those pieces of paper away, use them as scratch paper, or save up several pages and use them as note paper.

Do All You Can:
Going green doesn’t just mean doing a little here and there.  It means doing all you can everywhere you go.  With all the different Ways To Go Green At Work, you can continue working to go green.  Others around you will see what you’re doing and might just be moved enough to join in too.

You sure are welcome to chime in here anytime folks.

Some Go Green At Work Ideas for Business Owners

As we look for new ways of creating a greener environment, we usually start at home. However, if you are a business owner, there are a few Go Green At Work Ideas that you can use to get started. These are ways that you and your employees can do your part for the environment. Plus, it doesn’t take a lot of money to get started.

Save Energy:
Encourage your employees to unplug equipment before leaving for the day. Even when items such as printers and copy machines aren’t on, they still drain the electricity. By unplugging these types of items, you’re conserving energy. This will also help cut down on energy costs in your business. Also, make sure to shut off lights and computers when not in use.

Think Biodegradable:
Look into replacing current lighting with eco-friendly lights. There are now companies that are creating low-wattage florescent light fixtures that will also save energy. You might also replace regular trash liners with biodegradable bags. These break down over time, keeping landfills from getting clogged. Talk to your employees about separating their trash and create specific bins for specific items.

Happy Employees = Great Employees:
As a business owner, it’s your job to create a friendly work environment. With a few Go Green At Work Ideas, you’ll quickly find that your employees are happier. And happy employees means a more productive day. When they see you doing your part, they’ll be more apt to want to do theirs. Talk to your employees and see if they might have a few ideas of their own. When everyone gets involved, everyone wins.
