It’s getting to the point where we know we should be using more eco friendly cleaning products. Not only does our environment depend on it, but so does our health. Each year, we spend billions of dollars on household cleaning products. The problem is, they actually end up making our houses less clean because of some of the ingredients found them.
Ingredients such as ammonia, formaldehyde, petroleum distillates, propellants, and sodium lauryl sulphate may be in the products you clean your home with. These are considered “red flag” ingredients because of their health effects. These and over 150 other chemicals are associated with allergies, birth defects, and cancer.
It’s smart to check the cleaning products you’re currently using. Be aware though, companies are not required to list all the ingredients. Sometimes to be safe, you may be better off disposing of anything in question. Check the label for any specific instructions. Ridding it from your household will help save the health of you and your family.
There are a number of benefits when you switch to a more green way of cleaning. In the long run, it costs a lot less. Basic ingredients like baking soda and vinegar are incredibly inexpensive. If you make your own eco friendly cleaning products, there won’t be any heavy perfumes or chemicals on the ingredients list. Overall, the best reason for switching to more eco friendly cleaning products is that there won’t be anything dangerous underneath your sink.
