Another Green Food Recipe Greens & Beans

Green Food Recipe:
Swiss chard is a green food jam packed with vitamins and minerals!  It can be cut up and added to your salad or you can try this green food recipe.

Cut up a clove or two of garlic and set aside.  The air will help to release the nutritious properties of the garlic.  Cut up half an onion.  Melt a spoonful of coconut oil in a deep pan that has a lid.  Sauté onion in coconut oil until it softens.  Then add the garlic.

Rinse and cut up the swiss chard.  Add it to the pan.  Also pour in 16 ounces of vegetable stock.  Add one can of drained great northern beans.  Season to taste adding salt, pepper, parsley, basil, and any others you may enjoy.  For a little spice, cayenne pepper is nice.

Cover and turn down the heat to low, bringing it all to a simmer.  Once the greens are wilted, it’s ready to serve.

Greens and beans are usually served as a soup.  Cornbread is a great side dish for this recipe especially if you add the cayenne.  The cornbread will help to mellow out the spiciness.  We hope you and your family enjoy this tasty green food recipe!
