Roz Savage Environmentalist Rowing Across the Pacific Ocean Solo

The famous female solo rower, Roz Savage,  has commenced her second leg of rowing across the Pacific Ocean all alone, with no support boat, no re-supply and totally dependent upon her inner strength and positive attitude to overcome the many difficulties of such an arduous journey.

A few years ago Roz left her job in the business world to follow her vision and dreams of doing something as one person to call attention to various environmental causes and to make her mark in history as being the first woman to row solo across both the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans.

Roz accomplished the Atlantic journey first amidst all types of hardships and equipment malfunctions right down to breaking all of her wooden oars.  Her custom designed row boat is totally self-contained with all of her life support systems, communications, and various electronic guidance equipment.

Last year her voyage from San Francisco to Hawaii took 99 days and over one million oar strokes until she was on dry land again.  The ocean currents and weather situations often drove her backwards only to resume and repeat mileage that she had already gained previously.

I followed her total trip last year constantly though her website at http://rozsavage.com which has a tracking map and published communications through her daily reports, and I also followed every single one of her weekly or bi-weekly satellite telephone interviews with Leo LaPorte, the Tech Guy from Twit.tv.  Leo is a fantastic interviewer and was constantly able to draw Roz out which deeply impressed me and which made her superhuman effort much more realistic and exciting.

I am extremely impressed with Ms. Roz Savage and feel as though she gives us all the hope to follow our dreams and to step out of our shells and do something that is worth remembering in history.  She is one of the most inspirational people that I have ever known of.

Roz works diligently for various earth and oceanic environmental causes such as being an Ambassador for BLUE, an active community contributing to a healthy planet and also representing the Blue Frontier Campaign, supporting seaweed (marine grassroots) efforts in the US.

You may learn much more about this fabulously unique woman and follow her on Twitter and Friend Feed by going to her website at rozsavage.com where you will have a running list of Twitter messages and other information about her trip.

To Roz and her good ship Brocade, Bon Voyage and much success!
