Talking About Save The Rainforest

It’s nothing new to hear someone telling the world that they need to Save The Rainforest. Though we all know this to be true, have you ever stopped to think about why we need to save the rainforest? The fact of the matter is that many of the foods we eat, the spices we use everyday, and the medicines we need to stay healthy, all come from the world’s rainforests.

Lungs of the Planet:
At one time, 14% of the planet was covered in these lush forests. Today, however, we’ve taken that number down to only 6%. Rainforests are known as the “Lungs of the Planet”. Not because of the oxygen they put off, but because of the amounts of Carbon Dioxides they take out of the atmosphere. Without these forests, there is no clean air to breathe.

Medications:
It is estimated that more than 120 different types of prescription medications all come from plants that can only be found in the rainforests. Many of these are used in the fight against cancer, including Leukemia. Plus, scientists are working with several other species in a quest to find other sources of medications.

Save the World:
The world’s rainforests are more important than most people realize. They are our source for food, clean air, and medications. They protect the planet and give hope to those who might not have much to hope for. It’s imperative that we all do what we can to save the planet and when we work to Save The Rainforest, we’re doing our part to save the world.
