Go Green Baby – Tips For Newborns

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

These days, it’s important to go green before baby is even born. The nursery is the first place to start when you decide to Go Green Baby.

Don’t Pollute:
If you’re going to paint the walls, be sure to use a paint with zero or low VOC’s (volatile organic compounds). Not only do VOC’s pollute the environment, they are hazardous to your health.

Recycle – Reuse:
Also be on the look out for furniture that can be used again. Paint an old dresser, borrow a crib, or check out a local garage sale for rockers, strollers, etc. Clean and check over older items to be sure they still measure up in terms of safety.

Green Baby Products:
Natural or green baby care is the next important step. First of all, babies don’t really need all the products being advertised.

Warm water works just fine for sensitive baby skin, so don’t worry about soaps. Fresh air is the best remedy and prevention for a sore bottom. When changing your baby, wait a minute after wiping for any wetness from the wipe to dry so no moisture is left to build up and irritate baby’s skin.

No Toxins:
Overall, if you are going to buy any products for baby, look for those without any of the following; artificial colors or fragrances, toxic preservatives or cancer-causing chemicals.

Organic Foods:
When it’s time for baby to start eating, be sure to go green and start him or her off with organic or local foods. It’s so easy to prepare your own baby food but if there isn’t time for that, there are some excellent prepackaged organic baby foods.

Just be sure to make recycling a family habit, even for baby, by recycling food containers like glass jars or cardboard packaging.

Best Way To Save Money Go Green

Monday, November 17th, 2008

In the drive to save the environment, we find there are a lot of little things we can do. Ironically, a few of these go green things will not only save the planet, but they can actually help you save money too. Here are some of the Best Ways To Save Money while still living a go green lifestyle.

Conservation:
The easiest way to save money around the house is by simply shutting off the lights whenever you leave a room. Also, try using small lamps for lighting, and use low wattage light bulbs. These will all work to lower your electric bill while saving energy. Also, unplug any appliances not in use when gone during the day. Things like coffee pots, televisions and DVD’s, and even some lamps
will still use electricity, even when not in use.

Vehicle:
Keep your car properly tuned up. By maintaining a few simple things on your vehicle, you’ll end up saving money in gas. Keeping your tires at the right pressure, keeping your engine in top condition, and changing spark plugs can also save the environment by releasing fewer emissions into the atmosphere.

Food and Groceries:
You can also save a lot of money at the grocery store by buying generic brand names, rather than bigger name brands. Most times, you’re basically getting the same product, just spending less money. Also, make sure to buy products packaged in ways that can be reused, such as glass jars or plastic bottles. These items can be washed and reused several times.

Though there are many other ideas, these are some of the Best Ways To Save Money and still save the environment. It’s amazing to know that as you work to manage your money, you’ll also be doing your part to save the planet.
