Two of the biggest issues facing Americans today, is the rising cost of living, and finding ways to save the environment.  Most people worry more about providing for their own families, than how to live a greener life.  The thing is that these two issues can be combined and complement each other.  Here are some money saving ideas on Ways To Go Green For Less.

Energy:
Start with your energy bills.  How much do you pay each month to heat or cool your home?  During the winter, you should have your thermostat set at about 68 degrees.  In the summer, it should be at about 70 degrees.  Also, check for leaks around windows, doors, and faucets.  Drafts from these areas can cause your furnace or air conditioner to work harder than needed.

Recycle:
Reuse old jars and plastic containers.  Butter dishes make great storage containers and pickle jars can hold a lot of items.  Reuse your old coffee cans as a place to store cooking grease.  Dumping hot grease down your sinks or stools can clog up pipes and end up costing hundreds of dollars.  Make your own cleaning solutions.  Baking soda is one of the most effective cleaning products on the market.

Car Pool:
Save money by walking or riding your bike to work.  If you have a long commute, see about getting a carpool going.  This will help save on gas and maintenance, and will lower the amount of emissions in the air.  Another idea might be to start a grocery pool with others in your neighborhood.  Set up driving schedules for trips to the market, and get everyone involved.

It’s not easy trying to raise a family and do your part for the environment.  However, with a little effort you can find a lot of Ways To Go Green For Less.  You save money and the planet, and in the long run, everybody wins.
